Walter “Mickey” McKnight

Walter “Mickey” McKnight, 82, of Warwick, died on Monday, November 2, 2020 in Naples, FL. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Alexander and Virginia (McDuff) McKnight.

Walter faithfully served the City of Warwick as a member of the Warwick Police Department from 1962-1991 retiring as a Commander. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a coach for the Warwick Police Athletic League, and a member of the East Greenwich Firefighters Association.

He is survived by his former wife, Sally Ann McKnight of Warwick, his son, J. Scott McKnight W.P.D. Retd. (Barbara), his daughter, Susan T. McKnight-MacKinnon (Stephen Peltier, Esq.), his grandchildren, Erica McKnight, Ross MacKinnon (Heather), and Aubrie Dalicandro (Nick), his great-grandchildren, Sloan, Carter, and Taytum, his cousins, William Lunnie of Seekonk, Rae Lunnie of Rumford, and Judy Stenberg of East Greenwich, his nephews, Mark and Todd Lapin, his niece, Wendy Ohlsen, and his constant companion dog “Jake”.

Due to Covid 19 Restrictions, Walter’s family will announce a Celebration of Life at a later date. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave, Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 are greatly appreciated.
