Thomas J. “Odie” O’Donnell Jr., 45, of Coventry, RI passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, February 26, 2018. He was the loving husband to Allison E. (Cooney) O’Donnell for 20 years.
Tom was born in Hyannis, MA to Thomas J. O’Donnell, Sr. and Bonnie P. (Allen) O’Donnell on January 6, 1973. Tom grew up in Cotuit, MA and graduated from Barnstable High School in 1991. He met and fell in love with Allison while both attended Salve Regina University. He received a degree in finance and marketing in 1996. He really enjoyed his new position as an Energy Consultant with Horizon PWR. Previously he was employed by Embrace Home Loans for nearly 15 years.
An avid athlete, Tom played both lacrosse and hockey. He enjoyed coaching soccer and lacrosse as well as watching his daughters and nephews on the ice, field, and stage. Always the gracious host, Tom was well-known for his excellent culinary and bartending skills. Tom’s infectious smile, Irish humor, and generous spirit made him loved by all. He will be missed by all who knew him
Besides his devoted wife, Tom leaves three beautiful daughters, Hailey Elizabeth, Grace Kathryn, and Caroline Rose. He is survived by his brothers: Anthony A. O’Donnell and fiancee Megan Canty of Osterville, MA and Jason K. “Red” O’Donnell of Athens, Georgia, his mother and father-in-law, Maurice and Arlene Cooney, his sister-in-law Erin Cooney and his brother-in-law Christopher Cooney. He is also survived by his loving nephews: Finn and Ryan O’Donnell and their mother Amy Johnson, as well as many other relatives and friends. Tom also leaves his beloved pets, Tessie, Chloe and Bruin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Tom’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6th at Saints John and Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry. Interment will be at Saint Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston. Calling hours 4 - 7 p.m. at “Woodlawn” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston.
