Members of the Pilgrim Senior Center in Warwick were entertained at their annual holiday luncheon on December 23rd by an a capella singing group “Heaven and Nature” (as in “let them sing!). The singers performed a set of arranged carols – some familiar, some obscure – featuring intricate harmonies, which was followed by a group sing-a-long with lyrics provided. The highlight of the day was an orchestrated version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” led by Cranston professional music instructor Arleen Sherman and featuring props for diners to hold up when their part came round. This group activity culminated in a hearty round of laughter on all fronts. Heaven and Nature will return in March as “Sally Racket” (their usual incarnation) to help seniors celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with some old Irish favorites, a father/daughter fiddle duo, a Celtic harpist and even an opportunity for the agile to get out of their seats and learn a “ceilidhe dance.” Contact Activities Director Kathleen Bohl at the Pilgrim Senior Center for more information or reservations at Kathleen.M.Bohl@warwickri.com.
