Cheryl Wheeler was at the East Greenwich Odeum.

Tony Annicone was starring in “See How They Run” at the Newport Playhouse and directing “Murder at Lenny’s Speakeasy” for the Whodunnit Murder Mystery Theatre at Warwick’s Radisson Airport Hotel.

Festival Ballet presented “Carmen” at Vets.

Eugene O’Neil’s “A Moon For the Misbegotten”, starring William Damkoehler, Janice Duclos and Fred Sullivan Jr. was at Trinity Rep.

Roger Williams Park Zoo presented its 3rd annual Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular.

Johhny Mathis was at PPAC. Doc Severinsen played with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Pops at Vets.

“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” opened. I gave it one star.

Cate Blanchett starred in the beautifully moving “Veronica Guerin”> Joyce and I both gave it 5 stars.

40 Years Ago

Tim Daly, Becca Lish, Amy Van Nostrand and William Damkoehler starred in “Bus Stop” at Trinity.

“The Big Chill” was the surprise hit of the year. It starred William Hurt, Jeff Goldblum, Kevin Kline and Glenn Close. “Never Say Never Again “starred Sean Connery as James Bond. “The Right Stuff” was another great movie that year.

Twin lobsters were $8.95 at Fredericks on West Shore Rd. Harbourside Mania in East Greenwich had them for $10.95.

“Pump Boys and Dinettes” was at PPAC.

The Gerry Mulligan Quartet was at the RISD Auditorium.

Ben Vereen was the featured performer at PPAC’s fifth anniversary gala.

Jeanne C. Riley “Harper Valley PTA”) was at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet.
