Jeffrey F. Clements, 65, of East Greenwich, Rhode Island passed away Monday, August 23, 2021 with family by his side. He was the devoted father of Catherine M. Clements. Born in Providence and raised in Warwick, he was the loving son of Dolores (Solmonese) Clements and the late Gerald F. “Jeff” Clements.

Since Jeff’s retirement as a detective from the Warwick Police Department in 2001, he has been employed by the State of Rhode Island Lottery Commission. Jeff earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Roger Williams University and a Master of Science in criminal justice from Anna Maria College. He was a man of faith and a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and fully gave of himself to others. He was a proud member of the Bristol County Elks Club, the Warwick Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Warwick Council Knights of Columbus and the East Greenwich Veteran Fireman’s Club.

Some of Jeff’s happiest days were on the soccer pitch, first as a player at Warwick Veteran’s Memorial High School and the Community College of Rhode Island, and later as a coach of his daughter’s youth teams at the Warwick Firefighter’s Soccer Club and Our Lady of Mercy School. Nothing gave him more joy than watching his daughter play soccer for La Salle Academy. Jeff was a true gastronome. He shared with anyone who would ask or listen information about restaurants near and far, from the littlest joint to the finest upscale establishment. True to his maternal Italian heritage, he especially loved cooking and sharing a meal and a glass of wine with family and friends.

In addition to his beloved daughter and mother, he is also survived by his sister Mary Beth DiSanto and her husband Carl; his brother Peter J. Clements, WFD (Ret.); his nieces, Amy Cabrera, her husband Aldo and their twin daughters, Ava and Stella and Kristina Irons and her husband Austin; and his uncle, Ralph Solmonese.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Church, East Greenwich. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. The family is asking that attendees be fully masked. Visiting hours respectfully omitted.
