Is safety being compromised?

Posted

To the Editor,

RIAC is now denying the accuracy of the rendering presented at the Freight Advisory Committee meeting last week. The rendering shows the terminal moved to the north encroaching on the taxiway object free zone and invalidating the Environmental Assessment.

Is the presentation deck presented accurate? If not, will RIAC correct it?

This is becoming a hot issue because the South Cargo bond offering will be subject to an IRS exempt bond review under the TEFRA public participation rules and the filing of IRS Form 8038s.

The slide showing local funding is deceptive. This is FHWA funding subject to the TIP. That slide needs to be corrected.

Somebody needs to step in and have RIAC explain how an “incorrect rendering” popped up.  I raised a safety issue with the FAA over this and their answer is that since this project is being reviewed by the U.S. Court of Appeals FAA cannot consider safety issues brought up by the public on the new rendering.

Is safety being compromised by a back room deal between FAA and RIAC allowed because the city is asking for a court review?

What happens when an agency requesting grant funds presents deceptive information to the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)?
