Michael R. Holmes, 73, of Capron Street, West Warwick, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday afternoon, February 24, 2024, at home.
He was the beloved husband of Ethelmay G. (Morton) Holmes, they had been married for fifty-two years. Born in Havana, Illinois, a son of Wanda (Combs) Taylor and the late Jerry R. Holmes.
Mr. Holmes was employed at Stanley Bostitch in East Greenwich for several years until retiring. He served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting outdoors.
Besides his wife Ethelmay , his mother Wanda and his stepfather Nathan Taylor, Michael leaves three sons, Michael R. Holmes, Jr., Howard J. Holmes and George W., Holmes (Jennie), a daughter, Tanya Holmes; two grandchildren, Dakota Holmes and George Holmes; a brother, Timothy Taylor (Laurie); a sister-in-law, Emily Jencks; four brothers-in-law, Billy Jencks, George Baton, David Blevins and William Morton. He was the brother of the late Brenda Taylor Blevins, son-in-law of the late George and Mary Morton, brother-in-law of the late William Morton and nephew of Eva Broshears and the late Frank Broshears, the late Mildred Hall and the late William Morton. Michael also leaves many nieces and nephews.
