Diggin' Your Roots: Genealogy Workshop

Posted by nwright@westerlylibrary.org

Monday, September 16th, from 6-7:45 p.m., Westerly Library is pleased to host an interactive seminar by professional genealogists.

What is genealogy? How do you start to build your own family tree? This workshop will cover the basics to get you started. You’ll learn basic research methods and work with free websites (or paper if you prefer!) to create your own family tree. You’ll learn to search several free genealogical databases, learn about resources available to you at the Rhode Island Historical Society, Providence Public Library, and in your own community, and how to use what you find to document your family history.

Registration is required—online at www.westerlylibrary.org or call 401-596-2877 ext. 3. Basic comfort using a computer for online research is also required.

Programs at the library are free, open to the public, and handicapped accessible
