Cranston-based artist Lee Ann Scotto Adams will be one of a select number of featured artists included in the Providence Art Club’s Third Annual Community Invitational Exhibition, opening Sunday, January 28 from 2-4pm in the organization’s Dodge House Gallery on Thomas Street in Providence.

First mounted during the pandemic and now an annual tradition, the Art Club’s Community Invitationals provide an opportunity for talented artists from across the state to exhibit in some of the most historic art galleries in the region. Organized by the Art Club’s Gallery Manager Michael Rose, the show includes examples of work by many gifted artists who are active throughout the state and region, including Adams, who works out of a studio in Pawtuxet Village.

A RISD alum and painter focused on local landscapes, Adams is the Executive Director of the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project. She also maintains an active practice as a painter and has exhibited her work widely, including recent features in exhibitions at Art League Rhode Island in Pawtucket, Overlap Gallery in Newport, South County Art Association in Kingston, and AS220 in Providence. She previously served as an awards judge for an Art Club Members’ Show.

Speaking of Scotto’s participation in the Community Invitational Exhibition, Art Club Gallery Manager Michael Rose says, “We are delighted to have a contemporary painter of Lee Ann’s caliber in this special group exhibition. Lee Ann’s landscapes honor local sites and meld elements of abstraction and realism to form a unique artistic voice. Her work will be one of many highlights in this show and we know that visitors will enjoy her work.”

The exhibition runs until Feb. 15with an opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m. om Sunday, Jan. 28 Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Sundays and Fridays.
