BLACK AND BLUE
* * ½
(Good cops/bad cops)
Naomie Harris plays Alicia West, a rookie New Orleans police woman who witnesses a killing involving cops and drug dealers. She captures the killing on her body cam and runs for her life as both the bad cops and rug dealers chase her through the mean streets of New Orleans.
West gets help from a sympathetic storeowner (Tyrese Gibson) as a long cat-and-mouse chase provides much excitement, narrow escapes, and the revelation that just about every cop in the district is in cahoots with the bad guys.
That's about it for the plot, which of course leads to the final showdown between the good cop and the head of the bad guys.
There are lessons about doing the right thing, as West is challenged by the other cops to decide if she is "black" or "blue.”
Rated PG-13, with some profanity and lots of violence.
