Edwin P. Heaney Sr., 89, of Manchester, Conn., died peacefully on December 1, 2019.

Edwin was born in Pawtucket on June 1, 1930, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Nealin) Heaney. He grew up in Pawtucket, graduated from St. Raphael Academy and Bryant College and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Edwin was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and Providence College basketball. A resident of Warwick for most of his life, he retired from Warren Oil in Providence after a long career in sales.

He was predeceased by his four brothers, Rev. Joseph, Thomas, Leo and William. He leaves four sons, Christopher of New York, N.Y., Matthew (Janet) of San Jose, California, Ted (Carol) of Tolland, Conn. and Thomas (Lily) of Bronxville, N.Y.; his grandchildren, James, Kathryn and Brendan; and many other family members and friends.

A private family memorial service at a later date will take place at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter with military honors. Arrangements by Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home in South Windsor, Conn. Please visit for online condolences.
