According to the Beacon, Councilman Merolla says his campaign money was used to buy non-campaign-related ads featuring his law firm.
It has not been explained, how this could be an “honest mistake”, by professionals who are normally attentive to even small details, where this is hardly a small detail.
When did Mr. Rix start his own firm ? He says they currently share the same office space, but this is confusing. As of the time I am writing this, Merolla and Rix are both shown with the same firm, at https://merollaaccetturolough.com/about-us/
That means Mr. Rix also benefited from this situation.
