Cranston Mayor and Republican candidate for governor Allan Fung has received the endorsement of the Warwick Republican City Committee. "The Warwick City Committee voted last evening to endorse Mayor Fung to be our next governor. We are excited to support the mayor and help him onto victory," Chairman Tony Corrente said in a release issued Thursday. Warwick is the second largest city committee to formally endorse Mayor Fung, following Cranston’s lead. All cities and towns will endorse candidates prior to the early summer convention.
Rep. Patricia Morgan, who is also a declared Republican candidate, said she requested the names of the Republican City Committee members in hopes of sending them information prior to appearing before the committee. She said she didn’t get the information and that there were only three or four members present when she talked to the committee. ”I am honored to receive the Warwick City Committee’s endorsement,” Mayor Fung said in a statement. “Our momentum continues to grow and is quickly adding to the grassroots infrastructure needed to not only win in September but bring real change to the State House come November 6. We’re happy to have Warwick aboard #TeamFung.”
