These colors do run

Students, parents and faculty of Hoxsie Elementary School had a pristine day on September 29 to pull off the school’s first ever color run. The fun-filled fundraiser included students of all grade levels running around their large field getting blasted by brightly colored dyes from teachers and volunteers, led by the megaphone wielding principal Gary McCoombs, who wound up looking more like a Smurf by the end of the day. The event included a DJ, a bubble machine, coffee available from Warwick’s West Shore Coffee Bar, cupcakes and treats from JoJo’s Cupcakes and a photo booth in addition to the color run main event. All told, the event raised about $9,000 for the Hoxsie PTO, according to PTO president Kerri Stowik. (Warwick Beacon photos)
