To the Editor:
Candidate for Mayor Vincent Ferla has made it very clear that if elected mayor of the city of Warwick, his main agenda will be to represent the best interests of the residents. He would like to schedule a meeting with all the department heads to discuss operations and conditions of each department that services the residents and businesses in the city of Warwick. He wants to ensure they are operating effectively and efficiently.
If elected, he plans to put together a team to attract businesses to the city and to attract tourists and residents from surrounding cities and towns to visit Warwick. Ferla wants to make Warwick a destination that people will want to visit and stay, which will also help take the tax burden off the homeowners in the city.
Over the last 18 years, many businesses have either closed or moved away from Post Road and Airport Road, leaving valuable commercial property vacant around the city and leaving an increased tax burden on the city residents and businesses that have stayed.
He would also like to meet with state leaders and members of Congress in order to work further to improve the Rocky Point Area. He wants to make it a more desirable destination that so many people can enjoy – one of the most pristine destinations in Rhode Island. Ferla wants for everyone in the city and the state to see what a beautiful area Rocky Point is and to work for more amenities to have the area become a great place to be.
He would also like to meet with state leaders and the Airport Corporation to discuss getting more compensation for being the host city and also compensation for the property that has gone off the tax rolls that were purchased by the airport.
Candidate Ferla also says that he would not take any contributions from city employees, unions, special interest groups or other politicians, as his main goal is to be in the best interests of the residents and business owners of the city of Warwick.

Ironic that someone from the Ferla family is pushing what a great location it is. Wasn't it his family that ran Rocky Point into the ground?

All this from a guy who has never attended a council meeting or budget hearing.

To make it perfectly clear, this used car salesman's wife was rounded up by the state police for welfare fraud.

"...further improve the Rocky Point area...make it more desirable..."??!! How, exactly? I am a frequent critic of municipal projects and execution, but Rocky Point is now a gem. I can only imagine how Mr. Ferla wishes to "improve" it. The lack of details here is troubling.
