OK, if I have it right, curriculum head, Ms. Amelotte, feels good about "...student proficiency as reflected on tests." However, dragging Warwick's star rating down was "...a two-star rating on English language proficiency." So Warwick kids do well "on tests", just not those measuring English language proficiency. Well, what about Math? Turns out, 76% of Warwick high school students lack proficiency in basic Math. So what curriculum areas is Ms. Amelotte feeling good about, exactly? We know it's not English language proficiency, and we know it's not Math. So Warwick kids are proficient in.........anyone?.......anyone at all? More than likely, Ms. Amelotte is simply hoping no one will notice. Or worse, public officials offering an explanation void of facts.

You knew it was coming. "Councilman Jeremy Rix said he hadn’t reviewed the report but he thought “low morale” – resulting from a prolonged teacher contract dispute and this year’s dispute over the budget in which the School Committee cut a number of programs, including sports – could be a factor." Got it? Without even reading the report, Mr. Rix has magically diagnosed the problem: Not enough money! At only $19k per high school student, we knew this was coming. We just thought it would be based in actual information. This is truly frightening stuff!
