The defending state champion Bishop Hendricken cross country team got off to a strong start this week, topping both East Greenwich and Juanita Sanchez in their dual meet on Monday afternoon at Goddard Park.
The Hawks were led by Evan Reynolds with a time of 16:25, which was good enough for first place, followed by teammates Luke Henseler in second, David Delbonis third and Matt St. Jean fourth. Hendricken’s Andrew Woodbine would wrap up fifth place, followed by teammate Ryan Dyer in seventh, Evan McGregor in eighth, Aidan Moreira ninth and Keagan Tierney in 10th.
The Hawks will next face Coventry and Classical next Monday afternoon at Goddard.
The Pilgrim boys and girls cross country teams also had solid outings in their dual meet against Coventry, Mt. Pleasant and Hope on Monday at Rocky Point.
Pilgrim’s Alex White took home a fourth-place finish while teammate Justin Dorsey finished right behind him in fifth, as well as Pilgrim’s Mike Nichols in sixth. Ian Bubar rounded out the top-10 with a 10th place performance for the Pats.
Emmanuel Degos finished third overall on the girls side for Pilgrim, while Ava McCann took home fifth.
