Warwick’s Nate Jones makes the ballot for Grammys

Posted

As you could probably tell from our articles about him over the past few months, Warwick native and musician Nate Jones has a lot going on.

He put out the single “Safe As We Can” with an accompanying a music video back in August, he regularly plays gigs at numerous establishments around Rhode Island and he’s drumming for the Providence indie rock act Neapolitan. He’s also signed to the Providence-based artist development and music promotion firm Big Noise.

The latter has furthered his career to the point where he has gotten on the ballot for a couple of Grammy Awards, believe it or not. Through his single release, Jones is officially in consideration for both Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song ahead of next year’s awards ceremony on Jan. 26.

“I feel blessed,” Jones said of the news. “Although this is an amazing achievement. It’s only the beginning. I know that I will continue to create great opportunities for myself, and it’s the privilege of entertaining people for a living that drives me to want to continue giving my gift of music to as many people as possible.”

In order to make the actual Grammy ceremony, which will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, Jones will have to make it to the final five nominees after the voting is over. The only people who can vote are the ones approved by The Recording Academy.

If you know someone who knows people like Clive Davis or Quincy Jones, make sure to put in the good word. Maybe they can do some influencing of their peers. Regardless, it’s still something special for someone who is from the Ocean State.

There will be an event being put on by Big Noise to celebrate Jones’ accomplishment, titled “A For Your Consideration Party: A Showcase Of Rhode Island’s Grammy Ballot Artists.” It’ll be taking place at the Mediator Stage at 50 Rounds Ave. in Providence on Nov. 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The lineup is still being finalized, but you can bet that Jones will be performing. Make sure to come and show some support for a rising star from your own backyard.
