Just after 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, Officer Johnathan DiPietro responded to the area of the Job Lot on Warwick Avenue for a report of an erratic operator. Dispatch advised that a blue Toyota Camry was reportedly “all over the road” while traveling north toward Atlantic Avenue and had turned onto Post Road southbound.

DiPietro spotted the suspect vehicle and observed it “swerving in and out of the leftmost lane several times.” The vehicle nearly sideswiped another vehicle at one point, the officer reports.

DiPietro initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the operator, who had “severely bloodshot and watery” eyes and “appeared confused and disheveled.” The operator is said to have agreed to undergo field sobriety testing, which he reportedly failed.

Velasquez Urizar was later released into the custody of family members with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence. He was additionally cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test and laned roadway violations.

Just after 11 a.m. on Sept. 25, Officer Thomas Greene responded to the LongHorn Steakhouse at the Warwick Mall for a report of lost property. Greene arrived at LongHorn and spoke with staff, who indicated neither the ring nor watch had been turned in. No security camera footage that might help determine who took the items was available.

Greene then made contact with the reporting party by phone. The man estimated the ring, a gold 1962 Rhode Island College ring engraved with his name, was valued at roughly $600. The watch, a bold Bulova brand, was valued at approximately $300. The man said he had contacted the attorney general’s office and was advised to make a report to its pawn shop database.

The matter was documented and the investigation was closed pending any additional leads.
