LARCENY

Just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 17, Officer Zachary Black met with a woman at Warwick Police headquarters regarding a larceny complaint.

The reporting party told Black that at approximately 5 p.m. on Sept. 16, she had been shopping at Kohl’s on Bald Hill Road when she misplaced her purse while trying on shoes. She realized the purse was missing after she left the women’s department and returned in an attempt to locate it. At that point, she was approached by an employee from the store who told her the purse had been taken to the store’s customer service department.

The reporting party said she retrieved the purse and continued shopping. When she went to the check out line, however, she discovered her wallet was not inside the purse. The wallet, valued at roughly $30, is said to have contained multiple credit and debit cards, $120 in cash, a driver’s license, a AAA card, medical cards and two gift cards.

The reporting party provided Black with a description of a suspicious man who had been in the store’s shoe section at the time the purse went missing. The matter was documented and forwarded to detectives.

Just after 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, Officer Jordan Guyton responded to a Hilltop Drive home for a report of larceny. Dispatch advised that a woman was reporting a nursing bag stolen from her vehicle.

At the scene, the reporting party told Guyton she had discovered the nursing bad and her wallet were missing from her Nissan Rogue at approximately 8 a.m. on Sept. 16. The theft was believed to have occurred sometime during the previous night. The nursing bag was said to contain various equipment with a combined value of more than $1,100.

No security camera footage was immediately available. The matter was documented and forwarded to detectives.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Sept. 21, Officer Anthony D’Abrosca responded to the Target at the Warwick Mall for a report of larceny.

At the scene, the reporting party told D’Abrosca she had parker her vehicle – a 2010 Honda Element – outside the store at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 19. When she returned at around 2 p.m. on Sept. 21 and started the vehicle, she discovered its catalytic converter had been removed.

The matter was documented. A private tow removed the vehicle from the parking lot.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

At approximately 5:40 p.m. on Sept. 12, Officer William Holz was conducting a traffic patrol heading eastbound on Airport Road when he observed a vehicle ahead of him traveling at a high rate of speed.

Holz clocked the vehicle at 58 mph in a 35 mph zone and initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of Warwick Avenue and Stanmore Road. He made contact with the operator, who was found through a records check to have a suspended driver’s license and “multiple” previous convictions for driving with a suspended license.

Frank Forte, 49, 255 Academy Ave., Providence, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Sept. 23, Officer Brian Holleran was conducting a speed enforcement patrol on Main Avenue when he observed a Nissan Sentra traveling at a high rate of speed. He clocked the vehicle at 55 mph in a 35 mph zone and initiated a motor vehicle stop.

Holleran made contact with the operator, who was found through a records check to have a suspended license and at least two previous convictions for driving with a suspended license.

Matthew J. Schonfarber, 29, 11 Haswill St., Warwick, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

Just before 2 a.m. on Sept. 24, Officer Zachary Black was traveling east on East Avenue when he observed a 1999 Ford F350 with Connecticut registration traveling west on the road.

Black turned to follow the vehicle and observed it enter the on-ramp to Interstate 95 north. He observed “fumes/smoke emanating from the vehicle as it began to accelerate and pick up speed,” and that it had no lights illuminating its rear license plate.

Black initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the operator, who was found through a records check to have a suspended license and at least two previous convictions for driving with a suspended license. Additionally, the officer found that the license plates were inactive and not associated with the vehicle.

Zachary Wood, 22, 215 Providence St., West Warwick, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

He was additionally cited for improper use of registration or title certificate, operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, a muffler violation and failure to illuminate a rear registration plate.

At approximately 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 24, Officer David Boardman was conducting a routine patrol on Post Road when he observed a 2015 Nissan Altima traveling at a high rate of speed. He followed the vehicle onto the Airport Connector and observed it cross into the breakdown lane. He then initiated a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 95 south.

Boardman made contact with the operator, who was found through a records check to have a suspended license and at least two previous convictions for driving with a suspended license.

George Redwood, 30, 13 Union Drive, Apt. 306, North Kingstown, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.
