ATTEMPTED LARCENY

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on May 14, Officers Michael Bailey and Ryan Shibley responded to the Elmore Street area for a report of an attempted larceny of a boat motor.

Dispatch advised that according to the reporting party, two older men were observed using tools in an attempt to remove the motor – with an estimated value of $700 – from the stern of the boat outside her home. The men then fled into the woods.

Bailey and Shibley responded to the nearby Dave’s Market and searched the woods behind it in an unsuccessful attempt to locate the suspects. No security camera footage was immediately available. The matter was documented.

LARCENY

Just after 8:30 a.m. on May 14, Officer Kyle Palmer responded to Brewer Mechanical at 91 Bleachery Court for a report of a catalytic converter stolen from a vehicle.

At the scene, the reporting party told Palmer that the catalytic converter had been removed from a 2010 Ford F150 owned by the business at some point after the afternoon of May 11. The theft was discovered at approximately 7 p.m. on May 13. The catalytic converter was valued at $2,500 to $3,000.

Security camera footage from a neighboring business did not reveal the theft or any suspects. The matter was documented and forwarded to detectives. ***

Just before 9:30 a.m. on May 15, Officer Kyle Palmer responded to a construction site on Dory Road for a report of stolen construction equipment.

At the scene, Palmer spoke by phone with the president of the construction company, who indicated that between $4,500 and $6,000 worth of equipment – including aluminum poles, scaffolding benches and other materials – had been taken from under a deck in the rear of the house.

It was unclear when the theft occurred, and no security camera footage was available. The matter was documented. ***

Shortly after 1 p.m. on May 18, Officer Brian Holleran responded to a Commonwealth Avenue residence for a report of larceny from a motor vehicle.

At the scene, the reporting party told Holleran that he was awoken at 2 a.m. that morning by a car alarm going off outside his Carrs Lane residence. He checked outside but did not notice anything and went back to bed.

Then, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a neighbor advised the man that someone on a bicycle had attempted to break into vehicles in the neighborhood. The man then went outside to his 2003 Dodge Ram and observed the center console was open and papers were strewn on the front seat

It did not initially appear any items were missing, although the man later found his Ray Ban sunglasses had been taken from the vehicle.

The matter was documented and forwarded to detectives. ***

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. on May 20, Officer Nicholas DiNardo responded to West Bay Residential Services at 158 Knight St. for a report of a catalytic converter being stolen from a vehicle.

At the scene, the reporting party said the theft of the converter – valued at approximately $2,000 – from the 2003 Ford E-350 van is believed to have occurred between 9 a.m. on May 11 and 9 a.m. on May 20. He indicated the location has security camera footage but needed to access it through the IT department.

The matter was documented.

VANDALISM

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on May 16, Officer Jeffrey Taranto responded to a Harmony Court residence for a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle.

At the scene, the reporting party told Taranto that his vehicle – a 2006 Chevy Cobalt – had been left parked outside the home at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 15. When he returned to the vehicle at approximately 8:30 a.m. the next morning, he found it had been egged and that “it appeared that there was some damage in the form of paint chips to the door jamb on the front driver’s side door.”

A nearby resident said he would review security camera footage from his home and notify police if anything was observed. The matter was documented and forwarded to detectives.

WARRANT

Just after noon on May 21, Officer David Boardman responded to the La Quinta Inn & Suites at 36 Jefferson Blvd. for a report of larceny from a motor vehicle.

At the scene, the reporting party told Boardman her vehicle had been broken into within the last few hours. A subsequent records check revealed the reporting party was wanted on an active arrest warrant issued from Providence Police.

Tammy L. Sarafian, 33, 33 Appleton Ave., third floor, Pawtucket, was taken into custody on the warrant and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. She was later transferred to the custody of Providence Police.

Sgt. John Choquette responded to the La Quinta Inn and documented the damage to Sarafian’s vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Charger. The vehicle’s sun roof had been pried open and two packs of cigarettes were said to have been taken from inside.
