LARCENY

On June 9 at approximately 3:26 p.m., Officer Timothy J. Tavares responded to an Ann Mary Brown Drive home for a report of a stolen bicycle.

At the scene, the reporting party told Tavares that his mountain bike – described as a blue, black and white Roadmaster valued at approximately $200 – had been taken from his driveway sometime between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. that day.

Officers were advised to be on the lookout for anyone riding a bike that fit the description.

On the afternoon of June 10, Officer Tammy J. Mello responded to a Haverhill Avenue home for a report of larceny.

At the scene, the reporting party indicated that a pool filter system and pump had been stolen from the property sometime between the evening of June 7 and the morning of June 10. A tail of sand was observed leading from the location of the filter system to the driveway. The filer system was valued at approximately $3,000.

On June 14 at approximately 7:21 a.m., Officer Michael D. Walker responded to the Lowe’s location at 555 Greenwich Ave. for a report of a stolen forklift.

At the scene, the reporting party told Walker he had parked his tractor trailer – to which the forklift was attached – on the side of the Lowe’s building at noon on June 13. When he returned at 6:30 a.m. the next day, the forklift was missing.

The reporting party said the keys were not in the forklift, but the keys used for the forklifts are universal. The pins that attach the forklift to the trailer had also been taken.

No security camera footage was available. The matter was forwarded to detectives.

SHOPLIFTING

At approximately 3:45 p.m. on June 13, Officer Derek Moutato responded to the JCPenney location at Warwick Mall for a report of a female shoplifting suspect in custody.

At the scene, a loss prevention associate told Mourato that the woman was observed selecting several items before entering a boys fitting room. The woman then left the fitting room with only two items, and a subsequent check of the stall revealed a number of empty hangers.

The woman is said to have then exited the store, passing all points of purchase. She was then met by asset protection personnel and escorted back inside the store. Six clothing items with a combined value of $124 were reportedly recovered.

Marlene C. Pena Ortega, 18, 47 Woodmont St., second floor, Cranston, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. She was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on June 13, Officer Matthew T. Caradimos responded to the Walmart location at 650 Bald Hill Road for a report of a shoplifting incident in progress.

A loss prevention officer at the store told police that a man and woman had been observed walking around the store for approximately an hour and a half, and that numerous items had been concealed in a bag in their shopping cart. When the man and woman passed all points of purchase and attempted to exit the store, they were met by police.

According to loss prevention, a total of approximately $450 in merchandise was recovered, including jewelry, makeup, elastics, creams and lotions, nail polish, DVDs and a video game.

Arianna A. Antonelli, 27, 98 First St., West Warwick, and Kevin C. Musco, 27, 98 Park St., Cranston, were both arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. They were each later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

WARRANTS

On June 15 at 12:41 a.m., Officer Christopher R. Cote was traveling east on East Avenue when he observed a 2010 Kia travel through a red light at the road’s intersection with Greenwich Avenue.

Cote initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the Kia’s operator and two passengers. A records check revealed that one of the passengers was wanted on two active bench warrants issued from Second Division District Court and one active bench warrant issued from Third Division District Court.

Jonathan Kairuz, 33, 12 Youlden Ave., Cranston, was taken into custody on the warrants and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was held pending transportation to the Adult Correctional Institutions.
