DUI

At approximately 12:19 a.m. on April 20, Officer Randy S. Bell and other officers responded to the area of 1946 Post Road for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Dispatch indicated one of the vehicles involved had left the scene.

The vehicle that left the scene – described as a white Mazda –was located on Kilvert Street. Bell made contact with the operator, who is said to have acknowledged being involved in the accident. She reportedly said she had not stopped because he had to work early the next morning and wanted to get home.

Bell states that the operator’s eyes were “watery and bloodshot,” that her speech was mumbled and that she appeared unsteady on her feet. The operator is said to have acknowledged consuming alcohol earlier in the evening.

The operator is said to have agreed to undergo field sobriety testing, which she reportedly failed.

Kaylee E. Janton, 24, 27 Kilvert St., Warwick, was placed under arrest on charges of suspicion of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident/damage to attended vehicle resulting. She was transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing and is said to have refused a chemical breath test.

Janton was later released into the custody of a sober adult and issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident/damage to attended vehicle resulting. She was additionally cited for obedience to traffic control devices and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Just after 12:30 a.m. on April 27, Officer Evan E. Johnson responded to the area of Narragansett Parkway and Speer Street for a report of an impaired operator. The reporting party told dispatchers that the operator of a white SUV had backed into a parked vehicle and appeared intoxicated.

At the scene, Johnson observed the vehicle, described as a white 2018 Land Rover Velar with Massachusetts registration. The operator reportedly told the officer she had been driving a friend home after a night of celebrating and became lost.

According to Johnson, the operator acknowledged consuming alcohol earlier that night. He states that he “detected a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage” emanating from the operator’s breath. He also observed her to have “mildly bloodshot” eyes and difficulty remaining steady on her feet.

The operator is said to have agreed to undergo field sobriety testing but then refused to complete it.

Yesenia A. Pereyra, 43, 936 Chalkstone Ave., Apt. 3, Providence, was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Warwick Police headquarters. She is said to have refused a chemical breath test.

Pereyra was later transported to Kent Hospital for detox and issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence. She was additionally cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test.

DUTY TO STOP

On April 20 at approximately 10 p.m., Officer Brian Chianese was contacted by a lieutenant regarding a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident that occurred the previous night at Tavern 12 on Post Road.

The suspect in the accident had contacted police and was asked to respond to Warwick Police headquarters to complete a written statement. Chianese responded to the main lobby of headquarters and met with the suspect, who is said to have acknowledged leaving the scene after backing into another vehicle.

Amy Doran, 43, 233 Bullocks Point Ave., Riverside, was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident/damage to attended vehicle resulting. After processing, she was released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

LARCENY

On April 22 at approximately 1:03 p.m., Sgt. Joshua P. Myer responded to a lobby of Warwick Police headquarters to meet a party reporting a larceny.

The reporting party said that at approximately 7 p.m. on April 20, she went to the Burlington location at 650 Bald Hill Road. When she returned to her parked vehicle less than an hour later, she noticed that while the structure of her vehicle’s passenger-side mirror was still in place, the glass mirror portion had been removed.

The reporting party said she then went back inside the store and spoke with a loss prevention associate, who helped her review security camera footage. The video is said to have shown two subjects removing the glass mirror from the vehicle between 7:39 p.m. and 7:43 p.m. that night.

According to the reporting party, the cost of replacing the glass was approximately $450. The matter was forwarded to detectives. *** At approximately 8:30 a.m. on April 25, Officer Timothy W. Lipka responded to Riley Plumbing & Heating at 15 New England Way for a report of a larceny.

At the scene, the reporting party told Lipka that based on security camera footage, a dark-colored, four-door sedan had pulled up next to the dumpster at the property shortly before 1 a.m. that morning. A subject exited the vehicle and attempted unsuccessfully to access the locked dumpster, and then took a 3-inch gate valve from next to the garage door and placed it in his vehicle. The subject then placed two additional pieces of scrap metal in the vehicle before leaving the scene.

In all, approximately $100 of scrap was taken, according to the reporting party. The subject is described as a white male in his 20s or 30s with dark hair, wearing cargo shorts, sneakers and blue hooded sweatshirt.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

On April 24 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Officer Evan E. Johnson was patrolling on Airport Road when he observed a tan 1994 Toyota Corolla traveling west. The vehicle’s passenger-side brake light did not appear to illuminate, according to the officer.

A records check found the vehicle did not match its affixed Rhode Island registration plate, and Johnson initiated a motor vehicle stop. The officer made contact with the operator, and another check found her license had been suspended. The operator did not possess a valid insurance card, registration or bill of sale, according to the officer.

Samantha R. Dodge, 27, 55 South Main St., Coventry, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters. She was later released and issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court. She was additionally cited for operation of an unregistered vehicle.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on April 27, Officer Tyler J. Mobrice was traveling west on Sandy Lane when he observed a black Nissan Maxima with Maine registration nearly strike the curb two separate times.

Mobrice initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the operator, who is said to have denied consuming any alcohol that evening and indicated she was heading home after visiting a friend. A records check is said to have found the operator’s license was suspended.

Shakira L. Willey, 41, 71 Alto St., Apt. 2, Cranston, was arrested and charged with operating with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense. She was transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing and later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court. She was additionally cited for laned roadway violations.

LOST PROPERTY

At approximately 7:39 p.m. on April 18, Officer Steven D. Moretti responded to a Holmes Road residence for a report of a lost wallet.

At the scene, the reporting party told Moretti she believed she had left her wallet at the checkout counter during a visit to the Old Navy store at the Warwick Mall earlier that day. When she returned to the store approximately an hour after leaving, staff indicated to wallet had been turned in.

The reporting party said the wallet contained a debit card, credit card, driver’s license, Medicare card, dental insurance card, family pictures and approximately $30 in cash. A report was taken for informational purposes.
