DUI

Shortly before 4 a.m. on April 13, Officer Cody Wild responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of the Motel 6 on Jefferson Boulevard.

At the scene, Wild made contact with the operator of a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle had visible damage and the operator – who was uninjured – was seated in the driver’s seat.

According to Wild, the operator said she had fallen asleep at the wheel while attempting to leave the motel and struck two parked vehicles. A witness told police he observed the Impala strike two parked cars and attempt unsuccessfully to leave the scene due to the damage.

According to Wild, the operator’s speech was “mumbled” and that her eyes were “glossy.” She is said to have had difficulty maintaining eye contact and been “incoherent” during a conversation with the officer. The officer adds that the operator denied having consumed alcohol and that he “observed no indicators of an alcoholic beverage coming from” the woman.

The operator is said to have agreed to undergo field sobriety testing, which she reportedly failed.

Ebbetes Feliciano, 46, 174 Silver Spring St., Providence, was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Kent Hospital for a blood draw at the officer’s request. Feliciano is said to have refused to consent to a chemical test.

Feliciano was issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence. She was additionally cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test and driving without insurance.

Just after 11 p.m. on April 14, Officer Ali M. Jaafar responded to Audubon Road for a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Dispatch indicated that according to a witness, one vehicle had crashed into a parked vehicle and that the operator appeared to be intoxicated.

At the scene, Jaafar made contact with the operator and the reporting party. The officer reports the operator had “severly bloodshot” eyes, that his speech was “very slurred” and that he “appeared to be unsteady on his feet.” The officer also detected an “extremely strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” was emanating from the operator’s breath.

The operator is said to have acknowledged consuming alcohol that evening. He received medical clearance from rescue personnel and is said to have agreed to undergo field sobriety testing, which he reportedly failed.

Kyle J. Maloney, 28, 400 Narragansett Parkway, Warwick, was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Warwick Police headquarters, where he reportedly refused a chemical breath test.

Maloney was released into the custody of a sober adult and issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence. He was additionally cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test and leaving the lane of travel.

IDENTITY FRAUD

On April 18 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Officer Maxwell A. Neiley responded to the lobby of Warwick Police headquarters for a report of identity fraud.

The reporting party indicated that between April 17 and April 18, she received three UPS return service shipping labels at her Utica Drive home for three separate cell phones from Sprint. The reporting party said she is not, and has never been, a Sprint customer.

The reporting party told Neiley that checks with UPS and Sprint revealed that an unknown person had used her name, address, phone number and Social Security number to open an online account with Sprint on March 19. UPS then delivered three Samsung Galaxy 8 phones to her home on March 21.

“[The reporting party] believes the unknown suspects had waited outside of her residence to retrieve the packages, as she never received them,” according to Neiley.

The reporting party wishes to press charges. The matter was forwarded to detectives.

ATTEMPTED BREAK-IN

At 11:13 a.m. on April 18, Officer Britton E. Kelly responded to a Temple Avenue residence for a report of a possible breaking-and-entering incident.

At the scene, the reporting party told Kelly that she had discovered what appeared to be a hole drilled between the handle and deadbolt in the front door. A wreath that had been hanging from the door was lying on the deck and its hanger was broken. Nothing appeared out of place inside the residence, which is being sold and contains only kitchen appliances.

A canvass of the neighborhood did not produce any witnesses, and no surveillance video from the area was available. The matter was forwarded to detectives.

LARCENY

At approximately 3:41 p.m. on April 14, Officer Richard P. Odell responded to the lobby of Warwick Police headquarters regarding a report of a larceny.

The reporting party told Odell she had forgotten her purse outdoors at her Sandy Lane residence while putting out the recycling and trash on the morning of April 11. Later, when she realized she had forgotten the purse, she found it was no longer in the place she had left it.

The purse is described as a tan leather Coach purse containing a brown Coach wallet. The reporting party said it contained $25 in cash, a passport, an EBT card, checks, a Social Security Card and other cards and items. She also provided police with a description of a possible suspect.

At approximately 11 a.m. on April 6, Officer Tomas Bogusz responded to the Walmart location at 840 Post Road for a report of a shoplifting incident earlier that day.

At the scene, a loss prevention officer from the store told Bogusz that a male subject had entered the store shortly before 10 a.m. and selected four containers of motor oil. The subject then left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. He was observed entering a vehicle that was subsequently linked to an owner in South Kingstown.

On the morning of April 18, the subject responded to Warwick Police headquarters, where he is said to have acknowledged taking the motor oil from the store.

At the scene, an asset protection associate at the store told police that just before 5:15 p.m., a male subject was observed rolling up several clothing items and entering the men’s fitting room. The man was then seen exiting the fitting room without any merchandise. Broken ink tags were found inside a pair of Adidas pants in the fitting room, and the subject was observed entering a white, four-door Chevrolet in the parking lot.

JCPenney indicated the stolen items included a fleece stripe jogger, a woven hooded jacket and a long-sleeve dry top, with a combined value of $220. The store wished to press charges.

At 9:30 a.m. on April 15, Officer Russell Brown responded to the Walmart location at 840 Post Road for a report of a shoplifting in progress. At the scene, Brown was advised that the subject involved in the incident had left the store and was in the parking lot. A loss prevention associate identified the subject, who was opening the door to a motor vehicle.

Brown made contact with the subject, who is said to have indicated she “made a mistake” and wished to return the items to the store.

The Walmart loss prevention associate told police that the woman had entered the store at approximately 9:15 a.m. and started “ripping items off the shelves” and filling a shopping cart with clothes. The associate told police she observed the woman remove tags from items and conceal the merchandise in a bag. The associate said the woman then entered the store’s garden center, where she left the shopping cart and exited the store with multiple items in her hands.

Walmart indicated the total value of the items involved – including a purse, clothing and jewelry – was roughly $294. The store wished to press charges.

Nicole L. Seal, 35, 30 Harding Ave., Cranston, was arrested and charged with shoplifting. Police say she was transported to Third Division District Court as a past bail violator without incident.
