Green was the appropriate color, although technically it was the day before St. Patrick’s Day.
But that didn’t stop more than 100 senor citizens and a group from the Trudeau Memorial Center from partying Friday at the Pilgrim Senior Center. It was the traditional St. Patrick’s Day lunch and party hosted by Warwick Senator Michael McCaffrey. There were Irish songs sung by Sally Racket, a group of women who also had some dancing and music by The Vox Hunters. And, naturally, there was corned beef, cabbage, boiled potatoes and carrots.
McCaffrey went from table to table welcoming the guests. Mayor Scott Avedisian also showed up, vowing he wouldn’t be attempting Irish step dancing. He kept his promise.
And in the spirit of the occasion, there was a rainbow on one wall providing a perfect backdrop for those wanting a photograph and some of the Irish luck.
