Locals compete in World Trophy Invitational

Many local indoor track and field teams made the trip to Providence over the weekend to compete in the World Trophy Invitational.

Many teams and athletes took home hardware in the state-wide event, marking another strong showing as the season enters the midway grind.

Here is a look at some of the local results from the event:

Boys

Toll Gate’s Justin Perreault placed second in the pole vault.

The Bishop Hendricken team of Evan McGregor, Aidan Moreira, Eric O’Connor and Michael Del Sesto took home second in the 3,200 relay, while teammates Brendan Martin, Ryan Dyer, Nathan Clift and Dawson Reynolds finished fourth for the Hawks.

Hendricken’s Willem Chojnicki, Cory Goldstein, Dylan Murray and Bobby Schattle took home second in the 1,600 relay.

The Bishop Hendricken team of Cooper Dean, Kaden Allen, Cole McAssey and Danny Nygren finished third in the shuttle hurdles. Del Sesto placed fourth in the 3,000 run for Hendricken, while teammates O’Connor and Cameron Budlong took sixth and seventh, respectively.

Hendricken’s McGregor took home eighth in the 1,500 run, while teammate Dyer finished ninth, Moreira 11th, Martin 12th, Clift 13th, and Reynolds 20th.

Kamalie Pemberton took home a ninth-place finish in the 55 dash while Hendricken’s team of Dean, Brady McNamara, Drew Senecal and Luke Lockhart finished 10th in the 800 relay.

Hendricken’s McAssey and Allen placed 19th and 20th respectively in the 55 hurdles.

David Shah took home a fourth-place finish in the high jump for Hendricken, while teammate Teighan Jeremy placed fifth, John Santos 11th and Luke Lockhart 15th. Hendricken’s Amuchin Timbo placed fourth in the long jump, while Pilgrim’s Justin Dorsey took 15th.

Toll Gate’s Brandon Rios placed 17th in the shot put while Hendricken’s Richard Desplaines took 18th.

Girls

The Pilgrim relay team of Alanna Coffie, Sakeena Khan, Sarah Lynch and Amelia Murphy won the 1,600 relay while also finishing in second place in the 800.

The Toll Gate team of Allison Butera, Kaylah Staknis, Erin McKinnon and Kendall Brooks finished second in the shuttle hurdle, while Pilgrim’s relay team of Emmanuelle Degos, Ava McCann, Sofia McCann and Jamee Salisbury finished in second place in the 3,200 relay.

Ava McCann took home second place in the 1,500 run, while Degos took seventh in the same event. Mollie Cunningham also finished in 12th for Toll Gate while Sofia McCann finished 15th. Toll Gate’s Isabella Senerchia also finished 20th in the event.

Khan would later take home 11th in the 400 dash for Pilgrim, while teammate Taylor Diefenbach took 16th and Toll Gate’s Alyssa Silvestre 18th. Ava McCann finished fifth in the 1000 meter run for the Patriots.

Pilgrim’s Anna DeMenezes finished 14th in the 55 hurdles while Toll Gate’s Staknis took 19th. Madison Hemond finished 11th for Pilgrim in the 55 dash while Coffie finished close behind at 19th.

Pilgrim’s DeMenezes finished fifth in the high jump while Lynch took 11th in the long jump. DeMenezes also took 15th in the long jump competition as well. Jessica Gilman took a 15th-place finish in the 3,000 run for Toll Gate.
