Harrison Ford played the President in “Air Force One,” an action-packed, tense movie. Mel Gibson starred in “Conspiracy Theory.” “Free Willy 3” was the kid’s summer favorite. Sylvester Stallone starred in “Copland.” Demi Moore played “G.I. Jane.”

Ben and Jerry’s Folk Festival at Fort Adams featured Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, John Gorka, Joan Baez, Dar Williams, Gillian Welch, Rosanne Cash and Mary Chapin Carpenter…back in the days when folk music was folk music.

The Newport JVC Jazz Festival had Ray Charles, Tito Puente, Clark Terry, George Benson, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.

“Jesus Christ, Superstar,” directed by Judith Swift, rocked the old barn theatre at Theatre-by-the-Sea.

Local blues legend Paul Geremia was at Chan’s in Woonsocket for John Chan’s famous egg rolls and Jazz series, which is still going strong today. The weird Leon Redbone also made it to Woonsocket.

Avenue A, featuring Warwick residents Diane Gualtieri and Donald Blais, performed at the Conimicut Village Festival.

Cranston’s Joanne Mouradjian starred in Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Princess Ida” at Ocean State Light Opera at the Wheeler School. Vincent Mattera of Warwick played the viola in the orchestra. Cranstonian Ann Danis was the conductor.
