Steven Craig Tanner, 52, of Coventry, died peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the loving fiancé of Helen Lopes.

Born in Warwick, he was the beloved son of Mildred G. (Moore) Tanner-Hoffman of Warwick and the late Everett F. Tanner. Steven was employed as a machine operator at BSM Pump Corporation in North Kingstown until becoming ill. He enjoyed fresh water fishing and spending time with his family.

Steven passed on the gift of life by becoming an organ donor at the time of his passing.

In addition to his beloved fiancée and mother Steven is survived by Helen’s children, Anthony Lopes, Christian Lopes, Todd Lopes and Adam Lopes; a cherished granddaughter, Jayden Lopes; a brother, Clifford E. Tanner of South Shore, Kentucky; and a sister, Carol J. Tanner of East Greenwich.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 11 a.m. in Warwick Central Baptist Church, 3270 Post Road, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Urquart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, on Tuesday, April 23 from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be private.
