Nature photographer Dave Chartier captured this quintet of tom turkeys as they made an appearance recently near Economy Avenue in Conimicut. Apart from their plumage and white heads, Chartier said the males are distinguished by their spurs, which are used for fighting, and are visible (look closely) on the tom second in the lead. But as Arthur Dunn captured on his cell phone recently some turkeys prefer to take a ride.
