Classrooms that once housed high school students and than junior high school students will soon become the temporarily home for Sherman School. Seventeen rooms that were converted to administrative offices when Gorton Junior High closed are transitioning back into classrooms for 320 Sherman students. Sherman never opened this year after mold was discovered in the building. While cleaned, the administration didn’t want to risk the possibility of another mold bloom and moved ahead with nearly $4 million in renovations including a HVAC system expected to be completed in time for Sherman to open for the next school year. The temporary Sherman opened so teachers can put finishing touches to their rooms starting today . An open house will then be held followed by the start of in-person classes by Oct. 1 (Warwick Beacon photo)
