Usually Christmas trees are decorated with tinsel, stars, lights and ornaments, but the one at the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center is festooned with hats, scarves, mittens and gloves thanks to the generosity of students. The center’s Skills USA Leadership team came up with “Giving Tree” as a way to collect winter clothing that will go to Oakland Beach School. Jill Shurteff, cosmetology teacher and Skills USA Leadership advisor estimated students donated 130 items. Checking out the tree and all that it bears is culinary arts student Jillian Caruso.
