When it came time to repaint the sign at Sandy Lane Meat Market, they removed the sign to discover another sign beneath it. It surely had some customers wondering and brought back memories for Ann Meschino, who runs the store today. Amie Thoutle, who owned the building and sold produce, teamed up with Walter Santos, the late Ward 4 councilman and father in-law of now Mayor Joseph Solomon, who ran Sandy Lane Meat Market in the late 1950s. Meschino says they won’t be keeping the Aime’s sign although it sure looks like the original Sandy Lane Meat Market sign has plenty of life still. (Warwick Beacon photo)
