Pitcher signs with DII St. Anselm

By ALEX SPONSELLER After verbally committing to Division II St. Anselm baseball over the summer, Pilgrim pitcher Jared Reminder recently put the pen on the paper and made it official by signing his National Letter of Intent.

“It feels really good to make it official and to see my hard work pay off. My family and I are really excited,” said Reminder.

The senior hurler has one more season of high school ball as he hopes to hit the diamond this coming spring with the Patriots. He is also a member of the school’s basketball team which is also hoping to tip things off in the coming weeks.

Despite an unusual summer with the ongoing pandemic, Reminder is confident that he made the most of his opportunities to play and stay on top of his game as he inches his way closer to the college level.

“In the summer, we got to play but didn’t have many tournaments and we didn’t travel, so it was just a lot of games around Rhode Island. Now the past few months have been more about training. It’s been difficult to stay on course, but I feel like I have done a pretty good job of staying on top of it heading into my senior season,” said Reminder.

He also hopes to take home a title in one or both sports before he graduates.

“The goal is always to win games and win a championship. I think both teams - baseball and basketball - are ready to do that so it should be a fun year. I’m just going to focus on getting stronger, it’s always been a grind but I have been doing it for a while now and feel that I’m used to it,” said Reminder.

As he gets set to finish his high school athletic career strong, he looks forward to the challenges ahead playing for a Division II school and will miss suiting up for the Warwick community.

“In college they get you on a training program so that will be different and staying on top of your classes and being on your own. I’ll have to adjust to that. I’m really looking forward to meeting new people and bonding with the team, I’m excited to get to know the guys,” said Reminder. “I’ll definitely miss the support that we get from the community, between the support from the fans and city, I don’t think there are many places that have what we have here.”
