Gasoline prices in Rhode Island remain the same this week, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA Northeast’s December 23 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.50 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is 4 cents below the national average of $2.54. The average price in Rhode Island was also $2.50 this week a year ago.
“AAA forecasts that 104 million Americans will travel by car - the most on record for a year-end holiday,” said Lloyd Albert, AAA Senior Vice President of Public Affairs, “The substantial number of motorists has caused some state averages to increase heading into the holiday week, but these jumps aren’t big and won’t last long or linger past the holiday season.”
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 26 cents, from a low of $2.39 to a high of $2.65. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area. Please remember to slow down and move over for any emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
