CHILD ABUSE
A 46-year-old resident of the city’s Nausauket neighborhood has been charged with second-degree child abuse, according to a statement from Warwick Police Capt. Joseph Hopkins.
Kenneth Cady was arrested Sept. 20 after a 12-year-old boy told school personnel that he had been assaulted by his grandfather, who has custody of him, the statement reads. The boy is said to have had visible, but not serious, injuries. The alleged abuse is said to have occurred before school that morning.
Cady was held pending an appearance before a bail commissioner, according to Hopkins.

SHOPLIFTING
Just after 3 p.m. on Sept. 12, Officer Anthony J. D’Abrosca responded to the Pink store at Warwick Mall for a report of a shoplifting incident.
At the scene, an employee at the store told D’Abrosca that at approximately 2 p.m. that afternoon, a man and a woman entered the store and placed 24 pairs of yoga leggings – with a combined value of $1,126.80 – inside a large, purple bag. The two then left the store without making any attempt to pay, setting off a sensor alarm in the process.
The matter was forwarded to detectives.

On Sept. 15 at 12:32 p.m., Officer Ross E. Michel responded to the Stop & Shop location at 575 Greenwich Ave. for a report of a shoplifting incident in progress.
Upon arrival, an asset protection officer flagged down Michel and pointed to one of the suspects, who was pushing a shopping cart across the parking lot. The suspect was detained and brought to the supermarket’s asset protection office.
The asset protection officer told Michel that the suspect and another woman had been observed putting various items in plastic shopping bags placed in a shopping cart. The women are said to have then exited the store, passing all points of purchase without making any attempt to pay. Stop & Shop put the value of the merchandise at $847.95.
Jennifer Briggs, 33, Plainville, Massachusetts, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. She was held on a bench warrant issued from Sixth Division District Court pending a court appearance.

At approximately 3:40 p.m. on Sept. 16, Officer Evan E. Johnson responded to the Macy’s location at Warwick Mall for a report of shoplifting. Dispatch advised that asset protection personnel at the store had a male suspect in custody.
At the scene, an asset protection officer at the store told Johnson that the male suspect had been observed selecting several clothing items. He then selected a men’s fragrance tester bottle and concealed it in a shopping bag before proceeding to pay for the clothing items.
The asset protection officer said the man then continued walking around the store, selecting two packages of tank tops and two pairs of jeans. He is said to have entered a fitting room and left shortly thereafter with only one pair of jeans. A check of the room found none of the other items left behind.
The man then proceeded to pay for one pair of jeans before attempting to exit the store without paying for any of the other items, according to the loss prevention officer. At that point, store staff met the man and escorted him back inside the store, where the remaining items – one pair of jeans, two packages of tank tops and two fragrance tester bottlers, with a combined value of $188.50 – were recovered.
Reynold Guerrero, 48, 230 Washington Ave., Apt. 2, Providence, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

SUSPENDED LICENSE
Shortly after 6 p.m. on Sept. 16, Officer Timothy J. Tavares was on patrol heading northbound on Warwick Avenue when he observed a vehicle with Rhode Island registration but no state inspection sticker. The vehicle did have an inspection sticker from another state, according to the officer.
Tavares initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the operator, who was unable to provide a driver’s license. A subsequent records check found the operator’s license was suspended and that he had two prior convictions for driving with a suspended license.
Robert P. Polion, 49, 23 Taddy Ave., Warren, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court, and was additionally cited for inspection sticker required.

WARRANT
At approximately 9:12 p.m. on Sept. 14, Officer Brenen J. Cardoza responded to the intersection of Cowesett and Post roads after a motorist reported a woman walking in the travel lane in that area.
At the scene, Cardoza observed a woman sitting on the side of Cowesett Road with her feet protruding into the lane of travel. He made contact with the woman, who appeared to be intoxicated. A subsequent records check revealed the woman was wanted on an active arrest warrant issued from West Greenwich Police.
Monica D. Poole, 49, of 102 Chatworth Road, North Kingstown, was taken into custody on the warrant and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. She was later transferred to the custody of West Greenwich Police.

    Mike02886,

To top it off, Mr. "Hands-On" appears to be the only dirtbag in the log who resides in Warwick...again. Good thing they didn't print his address (rivoters.com).

What kind of load smiles for a child abuse mugshot?
