With insufficient members to constitute a quorum, the Zoning Board of Review has been forced to postpone until next month the appeal of the September Planning Board finding that a three-story self-storage unit at Pond Plaza in inconsistent with the city’s comprehensive plan. The appeal brought by Charles Anderson, who planned to expand the plaza to incorporate the self-storage unit, was to have been heard tonight.
As two Zoning Board members, chairman Donald Morash and Paul Wyrostek, are rescuing themselves and an alternate member out of town, only four members would be eligible to vote on the appeal. The board needs five for a quorum.
Norwood residents mounted a concerted effort to convince the Planning Board that the development did not belong in their neighborhood and now that the developer is appealing the denial, more than 300 were expected to turn out tonight.
The Zoning Board will have sufficient voting members to consider other items on tonight’s docket, a spokeswoman for the board said.
