No injuries in Country Club fire

Fire Chief James McLaughlin said that no injuries were sustained the house fire on Country Club Drive that occurred Tuesday around 5:00 p.m., and the cause appears to be accidental at this point.

The house is occupied by former City Councilman Steve Colantuono, Maya Colantuono and their daughter.

“It was occupied at the time, but everyone got out safely,” the chief said.

He added that there was significant damage done to the inside of the house, especially over the garage. He said the main part of the house sustained mostly smoke damage, but that was also significant.

The chief also said the occupants of the house had to get overnight housing Tuesday night and “won’t be going back there for a while.”

A fire department investigation into an official cause is still ongoing.
