Mary Poppins Auditions for Jane and Michael Banks

This family musical features the delightful songs from the popular Disney film including “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and “Chim Chim Cher-ee.” The stories of Mary Poppins have captivated audiences for generations, and now the enchanting tale, unforgettable songs and breathtaking dance numbers will dazzle and delight theatre goers of all ages.

Performance Dates:

April 20-21 & April 27-28; 7:30 PM

April 21, 22, 28, & 29; 2:00 PM

Rehearsals will start the third week of February and will be held in the evenings on weekdays (excluding Mondays) and afternoons on weekends. Detailed schedule will be provided on a weekly basis by the Production Stage Manager.

➢ Auditions will be held on February 4th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM in G Studio, URI Dept. of Theatre Fine Arts Center (105 Upper College Road, Kingston RI, 02881).

➢ Please prepare one vocal selection (please provide sheet music). Selections should be from a musical, excluding songs from Mary Poppins.

➢ Auditions will take place in 4-minute time slots, please call URI Theatre office (401-874-5921) to schedule a private audition time.

➢ For the last 20 minutes of every hour, children will be asked to participate in group dances and games. Please wear comfortable clothing that are easy to play in.

➢ Please arrive 15 minutes early so a parent or guardian may sign in and fill out an information form which will include any potential rehearsal conflicts. Head shots and resumes are appreciated, however not required.

➢ Callbacks will take place on February 11th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM (as needed). If you are called back, you will be notified via email and phone by the Production Stage Manager.

CHARACTER INFORMATION

Jane Banks (Female, age 11)

The high-spirited daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Banks is bright and precocious but can be willful and inclined to snobbishness. Vocal range: A3 to F#5

Michael Banks (Male, age 9)

The cute and cheeky son of Mr. and Mrs. Banks. Excitable and naughty, he adores his father and tries to be like him. Both he and Jane misbehave in order to get the attention of their parents. Vocal Range: A3 to E5
