Mary Madeline (McCahey) Mancini was an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend, our dear Mary passed peacefully from the arms of her beloved family into the eternal embrace of the Lord on Sunday, October 25th, in the comfort of her Warwick home. A much loved, respected, and admired woman - and one of great faith, putting everything in God’s hands - she was only 54 years young.
Born on November 5, 1965 to the late Patricia (Myers) and Thomas McCahey Sr., Mary enjoyed childhood in a traditional and loving home in the historic Federal Hill neighborhood in Providence which included her siblings. A proud graduate of Classical High School, she continued her studies at Rhode Island College and UCLA. Mary enjoyed a decades-long and very successful career as a paralegal and manager in law offices in both Rhode Island and California. Most recently and until her illness, Mary was the trusted and valued office administrator for Our Lady of Grace Parish in Johnston, endearing herself to many colleagues and parishioners.
She was an independent, capable, and hard-working and dedicated homemaker and loved entertaining, especially summer time cookouts which brought family and friends together. She was ‘big on beauty’ in all forms: in nature, especially the ocean beaches and lovely gardens she maintained; in home decorating, which she did too often but so well; in her coveted monthly shipments of health and beauty products; in the closeness of family and friends gathered around the fire pit; and in her giving heart and sweet soul.
An avid crafter, shopper, baker, card player, reader, restaurant and pub crawler (to new places, especially), sports fan (Patriots, of course), she thoroughly enjoyed beachcombing, political debates, romantic comedies, scary movies with her sister, and volunteer work, especially at her beloved parish of Our Lady of Grace. She was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage and a ‘big fan’ of stout beers. Above all else, Mary will be remembered and admired for her unconditional love, selflessness and generosity, passions and compassion, faithfulness and strength. She leaves a legacy of love and comfort in everyone whose hearts and souls she touched and will be sorely missed.
Mourning Mary’s passing are her beloved husband, Michael J. Mancini; cherished son, Robert E. Berarducci, III of whom she was immensely proud; loving sister, Patricia of Providence; loyal brother, Thomas “TJ” and wife, Karen of Johnston; dear sister-in-law, Dawn Rose-McCahey of Johnston; her sole surviving aunt, Judy Karpus of North Providence; her niece and nephews, Gianna and Thomas McCahey and Orlando Rose (wife Stephanie), all of Johnston; several cousins, and many friends. Her brothers Edward and James have predeceased her.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Berarducci Home & Cremation Care Center at the corner of Knight & Grove Streets (just off Broadway) in Providence where visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. For the safety of family and friends, Current COVID-19 precautions and protocols will be observed.
Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church on George Waterman Road in Johnston. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston will be private.
