Mary Jeanne Deering

Mary Jeanne Deering, age 92, of Warwick, RI, passed away on October 22, 2020, after a brief illness. Born in Providence, Jeanne was the last surviving child of Henry C. and Florence L. (Rennie) Deering.

Jeanne spent over 20 years with The Shepard’s Department Store, rising to the position of Buyer in the Foundations Department. When Shepard’s closed in 1974, she went on to work for, and close-out The Outlet Company, The Peerless Company, and Filene’s. A Warwick resident her entire adult life, Jeanne enjoyed following the buzz of her Longmeadow neighborhood on her police scanner, an interest she continued while living at Sparrows Point. She was an avid reader, and followed the news and current events, and enjoyed her daily crossword puzzle.

Jeanne is survived by her beloved niece and nephews, Betty Widden and her husband Roger of Boca Raton, FL, Bob Deering and his wife Carol of Warwick, RI, Jack Deering and his partner Joe Ruggiero of Boca Raton, FL, and Tim Deering and his wife Leslie of Wakefield, RI, as well as five great nieces & nephews and a great-great niece and nephew. She was the sister of the late Dorothy E. (Deering) Rohan, James R. Deering, Frances L. Deering, and Norman C. Deering.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick, RI, 02886 on Saturday, October 31 at 10:00 a.m. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, funeral attendance is limited and burial services will be private.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
