Mary Ann (Gingo) Tolento, 87, a resident of Warwick since 1970, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday May 31, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late John T. Tolento who passed away in 2016 after 60 years of marriage.

Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1931 she was the daughter to the late Nancy (Nannini) and Gaspar Genco. Mary and her future husband John met while she was a secretary at A&L Manufacturing in Brooklyn, NY and married in 1956. She was employed at MacLeod Optical in Warwick for many years. Her joys in life were her family, painting, crocheting, music, the ballet and especially Sunday morning breakfasts with her entire family. Through children, kid’s marriages, relocations, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren, they all gathered weekly at “Grandma’s” breakfast table for over 25 years. Raising five children in Warwick, Mary, in her role as matriarch of the family was an active supporter of her children and grandchildren’s school activities, sporting events and many, many family functions. She will be missed greatly and lovingly remembered forever by her family.

Mary was the loving mother of five children and leaves behind her daughter Theresa Tomasso and her husband John, along with four sons: Thomas and his wife Patricia, John & his wife Cynthia, Michael Tolento & Greg Tolento and his wife Maria. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Nicholas Gengenbach & his wife Sarah, Kristen Bernardo & her husband Cory, Tom Tolento and his wife Candice, Nicole Tolento, Julie Tolento, James Tolento, Katelyn Tolento and three great-grandchildren Gavin & Connor Tolento and Garrett Manchester. Mary, the youngest of eight children, was raised solely by her mother Nancy (Nannini) Genco (her father passed away prior to her birth). She was predeceased by her brothers: Andrew Genco, Arthur Gingo, Sam Gingo, Michael Genco, Frank Gingo, Bruno Gingo and her beloved sister Francis Troise.

Visiting hours at Quinn Funeral Home, Sunday, 4-6 p.m. Her funeral will be held Monday, June 4th, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, Warwick Ave. Burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, RI.
