John A. “Jack” Wallace, age 86, of Warwick, a veteran, a survivor, an aviator, an engineer, an educator, a philanthropist, an entrepreneur, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a husband, a mentor, passed peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family, on September 16th, 2018

Born in Providence on May 17, 1932, Jack grew up in Warwick. Through ROTC, he attended Brown University, and upon graduation became a Naval officer and attended flight school in Pensacola, Florida. After his Navy career, he started the first commercial helicoptor company in Rhode Island. While flying daily, he earned his master’s degree from URI in the evenings. When his flying days were over, he became an engineer with General Dynamics for 20 years, then taught school in Rhode Island and Arizona for 15 more.

Jack was a founder of the Warwick Boy’s Club in 1963 and remained involved with the organization until his 80’s. He cherished his like-long friendships and many will attest to his legendary cribbage skills. He was a voracious reader who never stopped learning.

Jack is survived by the love of his life, wife Eleanor (Dallinger) Wallace: his daughter, Cynthia Wallace (and husband David Hornoff), his son, Stephen Wallace (and wife Lori Pretti); his grandsons: Christopher Griffee (and wife Kendra Griffee) and Connor Wallace; his great-grandchildren: Mason and Jacklynn,; and his sister-in-law, Cynthia (Dallinger) Loomis.
