Jane E. (Howard) Greene Wood, age 89, of Warwick, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020, at Kent Regency in Warwick. She was the wife of the late Arthur B. Wood, Jr.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Hilton W. and Anna A. (Peco) Howard, she was a life-long Warwick resident. In 1952, she was crowned as the first and only Miss Rhode Island Red Head. Mrs. Wood was employed in food service at the Oakland Beach Elementary School in Warwick, and later at Richmond Elementary School in Richmond. She was also the owner of the former Rhode Island Red Catering Service in Warwick.

She is survived by two sons, Det. Sgt. David H. Greene (Cranston P.D, Ret.) and his wife Donna, of Charlestown, and Mark N. Greene and his wife Nancy, of Warwick; five grandchildren: Shannon Champagne (Stephen), Jamie Patterson (Brian), Amanda Crognale (John), Jessica van Luling (Taylor), and Katelyn Klitzner (Domenic); and eight great-grandchildren and one on the way. She was the mother of the late Bryan L. Greene. Jane also leaves two sisters, Ann Cornell and Meredith Roy, both of Warwick. She was the sister of the late H. Whipple Howard, Jr., Richard. A. Howard, Raymond C. Howard, Eleanor A. Roy, Lois S. Bourque, Carolyn G. Sherman, and Mary Lou Greco.

A private inurnment will be held at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.
