James Albert Rainey Jr., 74, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. He married the former Louise Anderson December 8, 2001, and she survives him.

He was born November 26, 1943, in Providence, R.I. to James and Lillian (McCarthy) Rainey, Sr. James served his country in the United States Air Force and United States Army in Korea and Vietnam and was a fully retired veteran. Following his military retirement, he also was a truck driver. His hobbies included woodworking and scroll saw art. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

James is survived by his wife: Louise Rainey, four daughters: Elizabeth (James) Clauson of Warwick, RI, Sharon Rainey of Cranston, RI, Christine Guertin of Warwick, RI, and Heather (Darrin) Rainey-Ross of Lake Elisnore, California; three sons: James (Sandra) Rainey III of Warwick, RI, Sean Rainey of Warwick, RI, and Wayne (Dawn) Rainey of Shelby; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Nancy Hill of Warwick, RI, Priscilla Ann Rainey of Warwick, RI and one brother: Frank Rainey of Florida.

A Chapel Service with Military Honors will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, South County Trail, Exeter. Please meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Information and condolences, please visit TheQuinnFuneralHome.com
