Postal carriers found people more generous than last year in its annual “Stamp out Hunger” food drive conducted Saturday. The local drive coordinated by Jim Harrington also received the assistance of several volunteer groups, including the Rhode Island Junior League, Singles in Motion and Local 99 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Food collected went to the Rhode Island Food Bank. Perishables went to the Rhode Island Family Shelter in Conimicut. A total of 21,771 pounds was collected in Warwick – 7,000 pounds more than last year.
