(Middle age angst)

Julianne Moore stars as Gloria, a middle-aged (late 50s) divorced woman with baggage who finds romance with a middle-aged divorced man (John Turturro) with much more baggage. Both have two grown children. His won't let go and drive him crazy with their dependence. Hers live their own lives and don't depend on her enough.

"Gloria" will certainly make AARP's "Movies for Seniors List,” raising common issues like dealing with grown children, finding love late in life, searching for both companionship and independence, and not at all ready for the rocking chair.

Gloria loves to sing to the oldies while driving her car to work as an insurance adjuster. She also loves to go to bars and dance the night away. It is inevitable that she would meet a man looking for a second chance at love and happiness.

While Gloria and Arnold are two different people, they enjoy each other's company and eventually end up in a sexual relationship. Problems develop over the families. Gloria brings Arnold to her son's birthday party and he feels left out. Arnold gets calls from his kids at the most inopportune times and feels obligated to stop everything to handle them. Their differences cause unsolvable problems, leading to a unique way for Gloria to handle them.

Julianne Moore is great as Gloria in a movie that may touch close to home for some and may be of little interest to those who just don't relate to the situations.

Rated R, with profanity, sex and nudity.
