George Bolden, Jr. departed this life in Clearwater, FL

Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of George Sr. and Faith (Tomlin) Skinner. A top performer as a youth, George was a Life Scout, was President of his Junior Achievement Company and was a member of the RI Honor Society in high school. After graduating from East Providence Senior High School, he attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., subsequently receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from The University of The District of Columbia. He answered the call to serve the Lord and dedicated his life to studying and spreading the Word of God while also employed in leadership capacities in the non-profit sector. George was a prolific and gifted writer. He authored an online daily devotional, organized Bible study groups and worked tirelessly as a counselor, website designer and grant writer for several organizations delivering services to homeless and other disadvantaged people. George’s health declined over the past few years as he battled hypertension. He underwent emergency heart surgery on October 19th- on the eve of his 58th birthday, and fought valiantly before the Lord called him from labor to rest on November 9th. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves a host of family and friends to celebrate their fond memories of this gentle soul.

. In addition to his parents, he leaves his wife, Karen and three step-daughters, Tequila, Stacy, and Monique, step-mother Nancy Bolden and step-father Carl Skinner and nephews Brandon and Darryn. He was predeceased by his younger brother Gregory.

Visiting hours Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. Funeral Service Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Hope Community Baptist Church, 734 Hope St., Providence. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery.
