Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down one cent this week, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA Northeast’s December 9 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.50 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is seven cents below the national average of $2.57. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 6 cents higher at $2.56 per gallon.

“Since the end of October, gasoline demand has mostly decreased as gasoline stocks have mostly increased, paving the way for cheaper gas prices,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of AAA Public and Government Affairs. “AAA expects stocks to continue to grow and drive gas prices even cheaper through year-end.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 30 cents, from a low of $2.39 to a high of $2.69. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area. Please remember to slow down and move over for any emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
