Free CCRI dental hygiene clinics scheduled to reopen to the public in September

The Community College of Rhode Island is reopening its free Dental Hygiene Clinics to the public for the fall 2021 semester beginning Sept. 1.

Held at CCRI’s Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, the Dental Hygiene Clinic is a learning environment for dental hygiene students during each academic year where patients can schedule appointments to receive free treatment from students under the supervision of a licensed dentist and dental hygienist.

Services include cleaning and exam, periodontal exam, educational services, X-Rays, panoramic radiographs, sealants, and other preventative services (e.g. fluoride treatment, nutritional counseling, health history screening, oral cancer screening, blood pressure screening, and denture and/or partial cleaning).

CCRI facilities follow all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.

Appointments last two hours and more than one appointment may be needed to complete dental hygiene treatment. Patients can now begin booking appointments for the fall. To schedule an appointment, call (401) 333-7250 or email dhclinic@ccri.edu.

Research has identified periodontal (gum) disease as a risk factor for heart and lung disease, diabetes, premature, low birth weight babies, and a number of other conditions. When it comes to your health, it is important you are proactive and see your health care professionals regularly. Dental hygienists are an integral part of the healthcare team that provides preventive care services. The CCRI Dental Hygiene clinical facility works collaboratively with other healthcare institutions to provide comprehensive care.
