Eugene F. Murray, 88, of Warwick died Thursday at the Avalon Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Kelly) Murray for 49 years.

Born in Sommerville, MA, he was the son of the late Dr. John and Grace (Driscoll) Murray. Eugene was a 1946 graduate of Lexington High School where he was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame for hockey. A 1951 graduate of Boston College, he served in United States Marine Corp as a first Lieutenant during the Korean War. During his professional career, he worked for GMAC for 20 years then as a finance manager for various car dealerships before retiring from Fiore Pontiac. Eugene was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Sts. Rose and Clement Parish. “Green Gene” was very proud of his Irish heritage though his greatest pride was the family he and Mary raised.

He leaves four children and their spouses, daughters, Sheila Connelly and her husband Kenneth of Somerset, NJ; Colleen Bolton and her husband John of Cranston, Erin Murray of Warwick, his son, John Murray and his wife Marcelline of Tiverton; his grandchildren: Bryan Murray and his wife Amanda, Matthew & Dominic Bolton, Mary & Kathleen Connelly, Devin & Patrick Murray; great-grandson, Doyle Murray; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Robert and Patricia Murray of Kingston, MA, sisters-in-law, Anne Murray of Syracuse, NY and Sheila Ebbet of West Palm Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Jack Kelly of Tustin, CA. He was the brother of the late John Murray and Patricia Ferry.

His funeral will be Tuesday at 8:45 A.M. from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clement, Long Street, Warwick at 10 A.M. Calling Hours Monday 4-7 P.M. Burial with military honors will be St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.
